Hindi Divas was celebrated on Thursday, 15 September, 2022 with a lot of fervor and enthusiasm by the department of Hindi, University of Kashmir, Srinagar. The Head, Department of Hindi, Prof. Zahida Jabeen delivered the welcome address and threw light on the main aim of conducting the Hindi Divas.

Prof. Aadil Amin Kak, Dean Faculty of Arts, Languages and Literature delivered the keynote address and spoke about the importance of Hindi Language and Literature. Prof. Kak appreciated the students of the department on their Hindi acumen and literary proficiency.

Registrar, University of Kashmir, Dr. Nisar Ahmad highlighted the vital role of Hindi language and literature in the global scenario and appreciated the academic work undertaken by the teachers of Hindi department.

The Hon’ble Vice chancellor Prof. Nilofar Khan also threw light on the importance of Hindi Divas and Hindi Language. She further stressed the need of being multilingual in the current global Scenario and felt that Hindi is an important language. Furthermore, Prof Nilofar Khan also stressed the need to separate the notions of language and religion. She also ensured her full support to the Department.

Prof. Rubi Zutshi delivered the vote of Thanks. Ms. Naairah  Qureshi was incharge of the event.

Several literary activities such as paper reading, poem symposium and essay writing competitions (under 20 and above 20) were organized and 12 prizes were distributed among the winners of the four competitions. Three judges Dr. Meraj Ahmed (Head, Dept. of Sanskrit), Mrs.Syed Shabana (Asst. Professor, IASE) and Dr. Neelofar Hamid (Regional Research Institute of Yunani Medicine) were nominated to assess the winners of the various competitions. All the participants were encouraged by providing participation certificates by the Dean, Faculty of Arts, Languages and Literature.

The day long event ended with cultural programmes  and other events by the students.
